TAKING FLIGHT is a multi-media art installation which creates a space in which to reflect upon the tragic situation in Ukraine. It allows the viewer to show solidarity with the people of that region, whilst providing an opportunity to offer practical help by supporting a St Peter’s community project which aims to provide Ukrainian families with local accommodation.
Artists Mike Thorpe, Rachel Ho and filmmaker Terry Gibson have collaborated to produce the installation, which centres around the themes of sanctuary and safety. Film projections, peace kites, ceramics and music combine to create a place for contemplation and action.
