We wanted to update you about our plans for the 2020 Parade in light of the latest advice from the government and NHS about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We must ensure that the health and safety of our audiences, volunteers, artists, partners and staff is our number one priority. We are reviewing the whole of the Barnaby Festival in light of this advice and exploring different ways we can deliver our festival for the community of Macclesfield.

Under the current government advice and restrictions it is not feasible to prepare for the Parade in June 2020 and keep people safe and well. With this in mind, we are working with our partner Artspace to look at alternative dates to deliver the Parade. We understand how disappointing this may be for our communities, but we are living in unprecedented times and we must ensure that we adhere to government and NHS guidelines to minimise risks, particularly to vulnerable people.

We will continue to assess the situation and the options for the delivery of Barnaby Festival and the Parade. We are committed to supporting our community and creative partners and finding ways to deliver high quality arts and enriching the cultural life of our audiences and we are working with our partners at ArtSpace to ensure that we work to deliver a Parade in a safe and engaging way.
