Deep Space and Solar Lab

Discover objects from deep space, learn about space science, retrieve images from seventeen different remote telescopes across the globe in real time. Witness the Planeterrella a popular scientific experiment which creates a version of the Northern Lights in a vacuum chamber. There are talks about this amazing experiment, about the magnetic personality of our sun and its effect on earth and the search for life in the universe.  On Sunday primary schools involved in the Weather Balloon projects present their films. Drop by – it’s all at the lab!

Saturday 18 June: 10am-5pm including
4-5pm Dr Gabrielle Provan Planeterrella Talk
Sunday 19 June: 10am-5pm including
10-11am, Near Space Balloon Project including a tethered spaceballoon launch in the Market Place
3-4pm, Dr Ian Morison talk on the Search for Life,
4.30-5pm, Alan Brown talk on James Webb Space Telescope Thermal Imaging
